Wellington based local songstress Violet Hirst ponders the question as to whatever happened to the great songs of the past. Digging deep into the vaults of her parents LP collection she chooses some brilliant classics from torch singers of the past, offering her own twist on Nina Simone, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley, Elizabeth Frazer, Bic Runga and The Bangles, Patti Smith with one or two of her own.

"Whatever happened to verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-chorus??." says Violet

Violet Hirst is an original artist who has been touring and performing at festivals around the country. She has been compared to Aldous Harding, and featured on Flying Nun and Under The Radar.

"Hirst performs original songs new and old...interwoven with the sweetest banter...while you prepare for goosebumps and chills upon listening" (UTR)

Still Vision Emily Burns - 1.jpg

Local songstress Emily Burns has covered just about every genre of song one could imagine; from Classical, Contemporary, Broadway to Jazz.   For the past three years Emily has shuttled between LA and NZ, employed as one of Princess Cruises star performers.  Then in 2020 she found herself stranded at sea, unable to find passage back to NZ.  Thankfully, with a stroke of luck, she managed to get back into NZ.

Emily has an extraordinary catalogue of song under her belt.  Her voice is a flawless blend of Judy Garland and Whitney Houston.  If you haven't caught Emily yet, do not miss this show, as she will not be staying in Queenstown for too much longer.

"Come Away With Me" is a selection of Emily's favourite songs from Sondheim to Carol King, with some hilarious stories from her travels thrown in.

COME AS YOU ARE

TE ATAMIRA NIGHTS - DART HOUSE, REMARKABLES PARK

FHMP Band Pic.jpg

Art imitates life and life imitates art, but Radiohead didn’t imitate – they predicted. The band that started out, back in the 90s, as a British answer to Nirvana foretold us about big tech, cancel culture, mental health, dirty politics – they saw it all coming and turned it into landmark albums like OK Computer, The Bends and In Rainbows.

We can’t say we weren’t warned! But we can sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the wit and whimsy of Radiohead’s soundtrack to life in the 2020’s.

COME 'AS YOU ARE are Teegan Stallard, Lizzy Green, Andy Patterson, Elis Davies and Mark Banham.  Join us for a journey into the slightly weird but very wonderful world of Radiohead.

Hear stories from the road, get serenaded in 3 different languages, and there might even be a dance number on this everything goes experimental show.

Let the kids stay home, this is an R18+ show that promises to deliver at least three dirty jokes and two even dirtier songs.
